In 1882, the Southern California Railroad began its new route
from

Diego

Bernardino
with a stop in Del Mar California. Today,

the month of July, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club uses the Del Mar

Aquarium, Del Mar National Golf Club, and The Meadows is home
to the Gobbler Classic every Thanksgiving, the Palomar
Observatory, or the Annual New Year's Penguin Plunge as locals
brave the cold ocean water. If all of this is not enough
activity, there is also a ferry to
Catalina
Island
departing from
Del
Mar daily.
